Swings Taphouse, Margaret River

We loved the Taphouse at Margaret River that we went for dinner twice in the three days we spent there. All the dishes we had were absolutely fantastic but this dish is a standout. Perhaps because it sounds very understated on the menu - woodfired baby veg, goat curd, macadamia granola - and with Stephen in tow it's very rare that we order a veg with no meant dish!

Every single vegetable is cooked to perfection. The pumpkin is smoky, creamy but isn't overdone. The carrots, asparagus and onion burnt only very slightly with a warm lightly smoked honey flavour. The button mushrooms and beetroot bring an earthy, savoury hint which compliments the sweetness of the pumpkin and carrots. The goats curd is a delightful and required cut through to the rich vegetables. The macadamias provide the crunch that is needed to finish it off.

If you couldn't tell - we loved this dish! We ordered it both night and each night is was slightly different but just as tasty.

We had been wine tasting all day so we didn't get a chance to try the wines here however they have a wide selection of locally sourced wines. What's more impressive are their "wines of tap" which are available at the bar and is influenced by the owners visits to Europe.

The restaurant has a funky rustic vibe and is family friendly in the early dinner hours with a small bar at the front that is lively with locals and tourists alike.

We high recommend the Taphouse.
