RivaReno Gelato, Barangaroo


The history behind how RivaReno was formed is a beautiful story of friends wanting fresh, quality gelato. It started in Bologna with the first store opening in Milan. Now they have stores across Italy, Malta, Spain and Australia.

I visited their newly opened store at Barangaroo however they also have a store in Darlinghurst. Outside of Europe, these are their only stores however the trip is well worth it!

Their gelato doesn't have any preservatives, additives or hydrogenated fats and is made on site. There are so many enticing flavours to choose from and it took us about 10 minutes to finally make a decision... knowing full well we would have to come back to try some more another day!

I wanted to try a gelato and sorbet so I decided on Mango Herra gelato and Raspberry (Lampone) sorbet. The gelato was unbelievably creamy and was packed full of flavour. Gelato in general is much more dense than ice cream but this was even more so and really enhanced the flavour and texture. The sorbet was smooth, tart, refreshing and not at all icy.

I would highly recommend visiting a RivaReno store and next time I will be trying one of their many gelatos which includes melted gianduia (hazelnut chocolate) drizzled on top!
