Rose & Crown, Goodwick

The food here was fantastic. We had the bangers and mash which was one of the best I've had. The sausages were "Presli Gold 'Jemima'" named after a Welsh heroine in the 1797 Battle of Fishguard, Jemima Fawr. The sausage is made using a recipe that dates back to this time and it truely is delicious. The sage and onion gravy, creamy mashed potato and green were the perfect accompaniment.

All Rose & Crown's meat is supplied by Gwaun Valley Meats of Letterston and their fish from Welsh Seafoods of Milford Haven with a strong focus on local produce and seasonal availability.

Unfortunately, the service wasn't great when we were here and they said they were low on staff in addition to trialling a new order system. It was quite confusing and didn't make the process easier for the customer but I guess at least they are trying new things - I don't know how bad the last system was!

The Rose & Crown isn't what I would call a traditional pub, or even a pub at all but I know times have changed. And only for the better with pubs stepping up their food game however just don't promise me a pub when you're a converted house with conservatory.
